🇧🇩 Bangladesh Exports Mangoes to China for the First Time

In a landmark achievement for Bangladesh’s agro-export sector, the country has officially begun exporting fresh mangoes to China. This significant development not only boosts the national economy but also strengthens Bangladesh’s position in the global fruit market.

🌏 A Historic Milestone in Bilateral Trade

On May 28, 2025, the first commercial shipment of 50 metric tons of mangoes was sent from Bangladesh to China. This milestone follows years of diplomatic discussions and technical inspections. In 2019, Bangladesh initiated the process by applying for export approval. After several rounds of phytosanitary evaluations and compliance assessments, China officially granted approval in 2024.

🍋 Strict Quality Standards Met

To gain market access, Bangladesh had to comply with China’s strict quarantine and safety regulations. Exporters worked closely with the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) to ensure that the mangoes were grown, harvested, and packed following international standards. All mangoes were treated and certified for quality and safety under the supervision of both countries’ inspection authorities.

📈 Economic Impact for Growers and Exporters

This new trade route is expected to:

  • Boost income for Bangladeshi mango farmers
  • Open up a multi-million-dollar export opportunity
  • Encourage the production of export-grade fruits
  • Create new jobs in agriculture, logistics, and packaging

The government has stated that this is just the beginning, with more shipments expected throughout the mango season. Exporters are optimistic that China will become a major buyer in the coming years.

🌱 Strengthening Bangladesh’s Agro Export Strategy

The inclusion of mangoes in Bangladesh’s export portfolio to China aligns with the country’s broader goal to diversify agro exports beyond traditional markets. This successful entry into the Chinese market sets the stage for other agricultural products—such as vegetables, jackfruit, guava, and processed foods—to follow.

🤝 Private Sector’s Role

Companies like BizMate Global Limited, which are active in promoting Bangladeshi agricultural exports, welcome this breakthrough. As a growing exporter of fresh produce, BizMate is exploring partnerships to supply mangoes and other fruits to markets like China, the Middle East, the UK, and the USA under private and white-label brands.

🚀 Final Thoughts

The first-ever mango export to China marks a promising new era for Bangladesh’s agro trade. With proper planning, global marketing, and government support, this initiative can transform the livelihoods of thousands of farmers and elevate Bangladesh’s standing in the international fruit market.
